HIGHLIGHTS

This six-day trail ride with four days of riding takes us deep into the Carpathian mountains. We ride over high mountain ridges and deep valleys. We will experience the whole beauty of Romania. As a reward we will reach after 4 days the Iron Gate on the Danube River with amazing views. Those who’s travel plan allows will make a boat trip on the departure day on the Danube into the Iron Gate.

WHY WE LIKE THIS TOUR

The daily stages are between 100 and 120 km long. The level of difficulty is tailored to beautiful and relaxed enduro riding. The tour is structured in such a way that we don't start too early in the morning and reach the hotel in time to have enough time for lunch and a cozy get-together in the hotel in the evening to enjoy the tour.

DURATION AND ITINERARY

This trail lasts 6 days with 4 days of riding. The package includes 5 nights accommodation including breakfast. There are no days off during the raid phases.

On the first day of riding, we start from Sibiu into the Carpathian Mountain which we cross on the next 3 days before we will reach the Iron Gate of the Danube river.

The daily stages are divided so that we stop for lunch in a local inn or take snacks with us and take breaks in between where we can relax and refuel our bodies.

The length of the daily stages are dependent on the level of the rider’s skills and can be around 100 to 130 km long. We do provide an alternative route if riders become tired during the ride, either via short cuts or road routes to the hotel.

The Iron Gate Raid ends in Orsova at the Danube from where we shuttle you to the airport of Timisoara for departure.

Day 1
Arrival and overnight in Sibiu (Romania).

Day 2
Stage 1 Entering the high Carpathian Mountains.

Day 3
Stage 2 Riding over the mountain ridges.

Day 4
Stage 3 Deep into the Carpathian Mountains and Valleys.

Day 5
Stage 4 Reaching the Iron Gate at the Danube River.

Day 6
Departure from Timisoara.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL

Our tour guides make sure that your driving level is taken into account during the trips - the difficulty level is easy to medium. This raid is perfect for beginners and less-capable riders. We have the option to shorten the distances of the stages, and to opt for small parts on gravel or small asphalt roads.

BEST TIME FOR THIS TRAIL

Ideal weather conditions occur between May and October.

TRAVEL AND HOTEL TRANSFER

The airport for arrival is SIBIU. For departure choose TIMISOARA. You take will be picked up at the gate in Sibiu, on departure you will be shuttled the 60 km to the Airport of Timisoara.

ACCOMMODATION AND BOARD

You will spend the first and last night in Sibiu. For 4 nights during the stages you will stay in very good hotels with breakfast. For lunch we stop at restaurants along the way and for dinner we go to restaurants or stay at the hotel. We leave dinner open and everyone can choose for themselves. A service car transports luggage between the stages.

MANAGEMENT OF THE TOUR

A tour manager will be available for the whole duration of this tour. Please turn to him regarding any questions, information, or issues.

MOTORBIKES, BUGGY, FUEL AND TYRE

On this tour, a rental bike or buggy and fuel is included. We have KTM, GASGAS and Husqvarna 2 and 4-stroke models available, for Buggies we offer Arctic Cat and CF Moto. All bikes are the latest models, professionally serviced, and in excellent condition. The bikes come with tires in good condition suitable for the ride with mousses and are equipped with closed rally guards, motor skid plate, and fan (bikes)

MOTORBIKE SERVICE

On this tour, a professional mechanic services the bikes, with the service car meeting the riders in the evening at the hotel.

DAMAGES ON THE RENTAL BIKE AND BUGGY

We do not charge for normal wear of the bike / buggy (like scratches on the plastics). On this tour an insurance (CDW – Crash ‘Damage Waiver) is available for bikes which covers damages on the bike. No CDW for Buggies available. See the terms of business for details.

EQUIPMENT AND GEAR

Minimum Enduro gear includes a helmet, goggles, elbow protectors (we recommend a protector jacket), gloves, pants, knee protectors, and Enduro boots. For this tour a good rain jacket and a backpack with water are mandatory.

We recommend taking a second set of Enduro clothes with you.
